CALIFORNIA - Mars is predicted to be an alternative planet for human settlements, but the hope is still constrained oxygen problems that were not there. Scientists are also trying to solve the case by making oxygen on the Red Planet.
Reported page Daily Mail, Wednesday (04/03/2015), the scientists designed a tool named Moxie which is claimed to transform carbon dioxide into oxygen on Mars in 2020. The oxygen will be taken by the NASA space shuttle ship has a crew of passengers.
"It will be the first time when we really going to produce oxygen on the surface of Mars," said one former US astronaut once the project investigator team.
To produce oxygen, Moxie will collect carbon dioxide from the surrounding and isolating the oxygen atom, then combine them to create oxygen. Moxie also will release a byproduct of carbon monoxide and other gases that would be released back into the air.
The working principle tool named Moxie itself ie by changing the 96 percent carbon dioxide and less than 0.2 percent oxygen, being 99.6 percent pure oxygen. Oxygen-producing machine will take approximately one and a half years to fill the rocket with liquid oxygen sufficient to take off to Mars.
Future plans are expected to have important implications for future missions to send humans to Mars. Project oxygen-producing machine, Moxie itself has been recognized by 58 scientists around the world.
